Several landscape architects are among 14 practices in the public realm and landscape category of London’s Architecture, Design and Urbanism Panel
The Architecture, Design and Urbanism framework will allow the London Legacy Development Corporation, London boroughs and housing associations to bypass the OJEU process, in effect allowing access to a ready-made shortlist of preferred practices.
It will support delivery of the mayor’s regeneration programmes as well as other public sector fully and part-funded projects and initiatives.
The practices named in the public realm and landscape category are Burns & Nice, Hassell, J & L Gibbons, Kinnear Landscape Architects (KLA), LDA Design, Adams and Sutherland, 5th Studio, Assemble, East, Erect, Metropolitan Projects, Muf, We Made That and Witherford Watson Mann.
KLA is also on the panel for urban strategies and area plans. A spokesperson said, ‘KLA is looking forward to embarking on new projects within two Lots of the Framework. KLA is the the only landscape practice to be selected for Lot one Urban Strategies and Area Plans and has also been selected for Lot four Public Realm and Landscape. KLA will continue to pursue the goal of integrating landscape and urban design with ecology and arts.’

Applicants were assessed on a broad range of criteria including design and technical capability, economic and financial standing, compliance with CDM and health and safety regulations, and fees.
Commenting on the panel appointments, LDA Design senior partner Andrew Harland said his practice has a strong desire to contribute to improving and maintaining London as a premier world city, ‘so being on the GLA-TfL framework is important to help us achieve our aim of shaping the future of the capital’.
