LI Advisory Council

Advisory Council is the guardian of the spirit of the Landscape Institute’s Charter and of its long-term objectives. As prescribed by the Royal Charter, By-Laws and regulations its main responsibilities are:

  • Ensuring accountability
  • Holding the Board to account
  • Shaping Policy
  • Inspiring Support

Council’s role and responsibilities are set out in full in the Terms of Reference


The Council’s role is to represent members and to help set the LI’s strategic objectives, meeting three times a year. There are up to 30 Council members:

  • 5 Honorary Officers
  • 3 Standing Committee representatives (Education & Membership, Policy & Communications, Technical)
  • 12 Branch representatives
  • 7 directly elected Corporate members
  • 2 directly elected Licenciate members
  • 1 directly elected Student member
