Volunteers sought for accreditation committee

The Landscape Institute is seeking four new members to join its accreditation committee to help support the accreditation of new and existing undergraduate and postgraduate landscape programmes.

We are particularly keen to hear from licentiate members, or recently chartered members, with an interest in university education. Expertise in one or more of the following areas would be welcome: landscape planning, management, science/ecology and urban design.

The accreditation committee is responsible for monitoring the annual university reporting cycle, which ensures accredited programmes continue to meet the LI’s accreditation criteria. Committee members also support the process of bringing forward new courses for accreditation.

The committee reports to the LI’s Education and Membership Committee, and is supported by a member of the LI’s education and membership team. It meets once or twice a year, and will involve additional input via email/phone. Expenses to and from meetings are refunded.

Membership of LI committees offers volunteers excellent professional development opportunities and professional networking opportunities, and enables members to play an important and progressive part in the development of the landscape profession.

How to apply
Please email a CV and short statement (no more than 500 words) to chriss@landscapeinstitute.org describing how you would contribute to the work of the accreditation committee, referencing the Elements and Areas of Practice document and the LI’s objective for broadening the profession. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2015.

For informal enquiries and receipt of applications, please contact Chris Sheridan, head of education and membership at chriss@landscapeinstitute.org tel 020 7685 2652.
