The LI has announced the shortlist for its annual awards celebrating the best work of landscape professionals

The LI has announced the shortlist for its annual awards celebrating the best work of landscape professionals.

This year’s shortlist for the UK’s top prize in landscape practice includes projects focusing on public health, green infrastructure and sustainability.

Improving public health through landscape was an important theme in the 2016 submissions, and the shortlist includes a hospital that brings nature indoors to reduce the stress of patients and staff.

Promoting biodiversity and adopting a green infrastructure approach to climate change and water management were two other prominent themes coming through. Projects that made it through to the shortlist include retrofitting of climate change adaptation measures on three housing estates in London.

And sex also features on the submissions list – but only of the the bee variety – with a green infrastructure plan that encourage bees and other pollinators.

The shortlisted projects will be exhibited at the Building Centre, Store Street, London from 3 November until Christmas 2016. Click here to view the shortlist in full.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will be held on Thursday 24 November 2016. The lunchtime ceremony will be hosted by Simon Reeve, adventurer, TV presenter and bestselling author. Tickets for the event are now available and places can be booked online.
