An origin is defined as a datum point for measured or calculated values, either in the real world, or in CAD and BIM systems.
TGN 01/2021 outlines provides guidance for any practitioner or practice working with real-world coordinates within any BIM and/or CAD software – especially those working in a collaborative environment, where coordinated model positioning is of paramount importance.
A collaborative initiative between software technology members from the Digital Practice Group, this TGN has been compiled with the intention to demonstrate that all major CAD and BIM software platforms utilise the same fundamental approach and technology with respect to file origins and coordinates.
