In an era of globalisation and environmental instability, the importance of landscape is often overlooked. Nevertheless, landscape interventions can be instrumental in addressing several pressing climate challenges.
A new LI technical information note (TIN) – authored by Dr Anastasia Nikologianni, with support from Professors Kathryn Moore and Peter Larkham – provides information for landscape professionals about carbon and climate change. It aims to introduce carbon concepts, illustrate the potential beneficial impact of spatial strategies, and cover some of the carbon challenges that landscape professionals can address. It also suggests ways in which the landscape profession can change public opinion on climate change.
As with all LI TINs, this note does not constitute guidance. However, it may encourage a positive change in the perception of landscape interventions, and thereby facilitate the creation of more resilient and sustainable environments.
