When you need to pay by

The membership year for individual LI memberships runs from 1st June until the 31st May of the following year.

The membership year for Registered Practices runs from 1st January to 31st December of the same year.

You should pay your membership renewal for the next year by the end of your current membership year – ie by 31st May for individual members or 31st December for Registered Practices.

If your individual membership is paid by Direct Debit, you don’t need to do anything. Your first payment instalment for the new membership year will be taken on or after the 10th of June.

Your membership is your responsibility. Even if your employer pays your membership, you are responsible for making sure that they make the payment in time.

How will you know when and how to renew?

The LI will send you reminder emails during the weeks before your membership year ends, including instruction on how to renew.

These will be sent to the main email address that you have set in your profile in the My LI Dashboard, so make sure that your details are correct.

What happens if you don’t pay your membership renewal in time?

If you don’t renew your membership in time, you risk losing your LI membership and, in some cases, you may have to reapply for membership. Read more about what happens when your LI membership is cancelled here.
