Students and experienced designers eligible for $10,000 prize
The International Sustainable Waterfront Design Competition (ISWDC) 2016 has been launched, inviting ideas from both students and design professionals in the fields of architecture, landscape design and urban planning.
The brief is to design an affordable mid-rise, mixed-use complex beside water. Participants can choose the site themselves but it must address the theme of 'waterfront' and employ sustainable methods.
ISWDC seeks to focus attention on the waterfront environment, encouraging designers to think about sustainability, renewable resources and healthy lifestyles. A collaboration between universities and design firms, it aims to support and promote burgeoning international student talent, giving participants experience of the competition process and showcasing the best schemes in a public exhibition.
Winners will be announced at the end of May, receiving cash prizes of $10,000 (first prize), $7,500 (second prize) and $2,500 (third prize).
The deadline for registration is 31 March, with submissions due by 30 April.
