Call for Support - Surface Water Drainage in Refugee Camps

A group led by experts at Arup is seeking to address the problem of flooding in refugee camps, and is starting by asking interested parties to complete a questionnaire and/or attend a workshop.

Working for the Humanitarian Innovation Fund, the group aims to create guidance for practitioners to better plan for and manage surface water in refugee camps. As a first step, it is looking for feedback on two aspects: it wants practitioners to complete a survey to help the team understand what questions they should be asking in order to create their specification; and it plans to hold two half-day workshops in London in early September to collaborate with stakeholders. At the workshops it will gather feedback on the initial study and lessons learnt.

The group is supported by Oxfam, CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association) and WEDC (Water, Engineering and Development Centre). At the moment it is looking for expressions of interest in participating in the survey and/ or seminars. If you are interested, please follow this link before Tuesday 29 August.
