Many thanks to all the registered practices who have sent in information and contributions about problems in public procurement
Among the issues practices have highlighted are:
- Charging fees to register as a supplier
- Demanding huge and unfeasible levels of PI cover
- Lack of professional expertise in evaluating different bids
- Skewed weightings
Among the few examples of good approaches to procurement, practices have cited use of the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) method.
The secretariat will be drafting a response on behalf of the LI over the summer and submitting it to the Enquiry of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Excellence in the Built Environment before the end of August.
