Academic journal seeks designs for a ‘sponge garden’
Chinese academic journal Landscape Architecture has launched a design competition – and is seeking entrants from the UK.
One way in which China is addressing its problems with urban water and ecology is through the idea of the ‘sponge city’ which can store and purify water in a natural way. This competition takes the idea to a smaller scale, asking entrants to design a ‘sponge garden’ for a 500 square meter site in Huadong International Landscape Architecture Industrial Park in Lai’an County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province.
The competition is open to designers under the age of 40 and there is a top prize of 50,000RMB (approximately £5000). The intention is that the winning design will be built.
The closing date for registration is 15 August.
