Guildhall Square is to open to the public officially this November
Southampton City Council are finishing building works on it’s newly repaved and refurbished Guildhall Square in the fast emerging cultural quarter of the city.
The area is set to attract events, arts shows and exhibitions thanks to its new lighting, paving and benches, which make it far more pedestrian friendly.
Councillor Royston Smith, Leader of Southampton City Council said: “I’m confident this square will give residents a lot of pleasure, creating an atmospheric place in the heart of the city – as well as attracting further investment and events to Southampton. Guildhall Square has already helped attract millions of pounds of investment to the cultural quarter for the Arts Complex and Sea City Museum.”
The launch event will be held on 12-13 November and will feature a fire garden with dancing fire sculptures, fiery engines and cascades of candles by French fire alchemists Compagnie Carabosse.
