Search and open advertisement for a new chief executive for the Landscape Institute (LI) formally launched on Monday 26 April 2021.
Now in the fourth year of our 2018-23 Corporate Strategy, the LI is at an exciting and pivotal period in our 92-year history. Our industry needs to be a leading voice in tackling the foremost challenges of our time: climate change, nature loss, declining health and wellbeing, and economic recovery. We need to become a welcoming professional home for creative and passionate people from all backgrounds; and we need to realise our part in creating inclusive, accessible places that celebrate the culture and diversity of all our communities.
In February, the LI announced the departure of our previous CEO Dan Cook after five years of transformational leadership. Under the able direction of interim CEO Jane Swift, we’ve been strengthening our position to deliver the next stage of our strategy. The LI Board of Trustees has given careful consideration to the type of person we’ll need.
The Board has appointed the recruitment agency Green Park to support us in our search. A specialist leadership recruitment agency and consultancy, Green Park has an excellent track record in the private, public, and charity sectors. In recent weeks, they’ve been talking to a selection of LI members from Advisory Council, national and local branches, the LI College of Fellows, our Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Forum, and our staff.
