Gates will be first stage in renewal of the Rose Gardens

Royal Parks launches competition for Hyde Park gates

Royal Parks is seeking a designer for new gates to the Rose Gardens in Hyde Park, London.

The design competition  will be part of the first stage of the renewal works to the Rose Gardens. 'The purpose of the new gates,' says Jane Pelly, head of landscape at Royal Parks, 'is to signal the arrival into the Rose Gardens, add to the quality of the visitor experience and the anticipation that they feel on arrival. They will help to create a destination place and through the design draw people into the site, as well as help police the garden and improve security at night.'
