Nearly an acre of land is being donated for temporary use to a lucky competition winner
As part of its ongoing Site Life campaign to find lively interim uses for vacant sites affected by the downturn in the development cycle, Property Week magazine in collaboration with Urban Splash is running a competition to find the best temporary use for a 0.7 acre site in New Islington, East Manchester.
Urban Splash, a specialist regeneration developer and owner of the New Islington site, will make the area – part of a 30 acre regeneration site – available for free for a year to the winner, providing a way can be found to pay for their proposals.
Property Week will publish as many great ideas as it can and judging will be led by Tom Bloxham of Splash, Giles Barrie, Property Week, Amanda Baillieu, Building Design and Jess Steele of the Development Trusts Association.
The competition is open to anyone, but aimed specifically at landscape architects, artists, entrepreneurs and community groups.
Entries should comprise up to three PDF files, capable of being reproduced and understood at A3 size. Applicants are also welcome to submit a moving image file of up to three minutes duration to help explain their proposal.
Full details of the competition can be found on the Property Week website.
