Porritt to host Landscape Awards
The Awards are presented to encourage and recognise outstanding examples of work by the landscape profession and Porritt’s insights into the environmental movement are expect to add greatly to the event.
He has recently left his post advising government as chairman of the Sustainable Development Commission and his impressive CV includes roles such as director of Friends of the Earth and co-chair of the Green Party.
“Jonathan is an expert in sustainable development, an issue close to the heart of every aspect of a landscape architect’s work,” said Alastair McCapra, CEO of the Landscape Institute. “We are very pleased he agreed to host the Awards, particularly as this year is shaping up to be one of the best crop of entries we’ve ever had.”
The Awards consist of 14 categories including Design, Management and Landscape Policy. Successful entries will be judged as a winner, highly commended or commended.
“The recent judging weekend went very well and site visits are now taking place,” added McCapra. “We will be contacting those on the shortlist by 9 October.”
The Landscape Institute Awards takes place on 19 November 2009 at the The Brewery, Chiswell Street, Barbican, London. Tickets are £145 per person or £130 per person with a table of ten.
