Landscape architects Planit-IE will lead a team in developing Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Windermere
Others involved in the project include design engineers Stockley, Carmody Groarke Architects and public-space event programmers, Groundbreaking.
Planit-IE has an existing relationship with Brockhole, having contributed creative ideas for the landside works around the new jetty in 2011.
“We are delighted to have won the chance to further shape the future at Brockhole and to be working in the Lake District again,” said Planit-IE’s director Pete Swift on the company’s blog site. “It is one of our favourite places and with its breathtaking views and location on the shores of Windermere it has all the ingredients to become a truly world class visitor attraction.”
Later this year, members of the public will have the opportunity to contribute ideas online regarding the masterplan for Brockhole’s future.
