LI seeks views on new landscape Product Data Templates

Major BIM consultation launched

The LI BIM Working Group is leading on the production of Product Data Templates (PDTs) relevant to the landscape industry. A selection of pilot templates are now on the LI website, and the Working Group is keen to get members’ feedback.

The initial list is intended to cover a broad range of product types, and this pilot will inform the creation of a full list of templates in the future. Other built environment institutions are also currently consulting on templates in their respective practice areas as part of a cross-disciplinary drive to prepare for the Digital Plan of Works in April 2015.

Product data is central to BIM, and PDTs provide a standard means for manufacturers and suppliers in the built environment sector to provide consistent data that can feed into a BIM workflow. A full explanation of the background to the project, and the purpose and use of PDTs in BIM is on the LI website.

The deadline for comments is Friday 20 March and feedback either on specific PDTs or future templates will be greatly appreciated. The BIM Working Group welcomes anyone interested in assisting in this project: please get in touch at knowledge@landscapeinstitute.org.
