Bespoke toolkit can help advisers and managers think about wider location
Land Use Consultants (LUC) has carried out a training session on setting and significance for staff of the National Trust (NT).
Aimed at land-use planning advisors and conservation data managers, the sessions included a specially devised toolkit, prepared with the NT, which helps employees think about the wider location of a property beyond the NT land. The purpose is to help the NT manage change while conserving and enhancing the significance of the setting.
Suggested 'tools' for understanding change include preparation of zones of theoretical visibility (ZTV), visualisations, modelling change and view analysis as well as tranquility and dark-skies mapping.
Training was led by Kate Ahern, LUC’s director of landscape planning, and Diana Manson, LUC’s head of GIS and visualisation.
