Information is designed to help members tap into alternative source of finance
The LI has produced an information note for its members on crowdfunding and the potential it offers to support community, greenspace and environmental projects.
As the note says in its summary, 'Although largely business oriented there are emerging opportunities for communities and the environmental sector to secure funding from a range of sources to ‘crowdfund’ their own non-commercial projects, thus helping to regenerate communities, green space and other landscape initiatives across the UK.'
The note covers the history and development of crowdfunding, and looks at the different types that are available. It covers regulation, looks at some of the popular crowdfunding platforms and provides a case study.
