Work on the Jo Yeates Memorial Garden has commenced and the garden is likely to be formally open to the public at some point in early summer. Prior to the opening, landscape architects from around the south east and south west will be showing their support at a celebratory planting day on 13 May.

Members and their families will be able to visit the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum in Hampshire and help plant a selection of wildflowers. Already pledging their support are members of Terra Firma, Influence and Hyland Edgar Driver practices.

So far, £15,000 has been raised to pay for the design and construction of the garden. Liz Ford, one of the key fundraisers for the project said: “The project has been hugely rewarding. I’ve been very touched by people’s generosity. Donations have come from all across the world, even as far as Salt Lake City.”

Donations are still being accepted, for more information visit https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/joyeatesmemorialgardenfund

To register for the planting day, email mail.southeast@landscapeinstitute.org. ref: ‘Jo Yeates Planting Day’, with details of name and number in your party by 8 May.
