A year after the death of landscape architect Jo Yeates, funding for a memorial garden in her honour is progressing steadily
Members of the Landscape Institute South East Branch, who decided to create the garden to be located at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum, Hampshire, have raised £8,000 so far and need a further £3,000 to complete the project.
The garden is intended to be completed and open by 19 April, which would have been Jo’s birthday. The latest designs for the garden can be seen above. The paving will be sandstone blocks and the bench will be untreated European Oak. Hillier Nurseries has donated a mature Japanese Maple tree, which was chosen by Jo’s parents, who were also involved in discussions about the designs of the garden. Part of the garden will be a butterfly-attracting wild meadow – these were ideas close to Jo’s heart and were the inspiration for the designs.
