French landscape designer will deliver annual David Skinner Memorial Lecture

Jacqueline Osty to give Edinburgh talk

This year’s David Skinner Memorial Lecture will be delivered by eminent French landscape designer Jacqueline Osty.

Founded in 1985, Atelier Jacqueline Osty & associés is known for its French landscapes and for its multi-purpose public spaces. Past projects include Paris’ award-winning Parc Martin Luther King, renovation of the city’s Parc Zoologique and landscaping of boulevard Richard Lenoir as well as Parc Saint Pierre in Amiens. More recently the practice has expanded into urban planning and urbanism, such as the transformation of 12.5ha of post-industrial quays on the Rollet Peninsula, Rouen.

The David Skinner lecture was established in 1991 in memory of the first head of landscape architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. Previous speakers have included James Corner, Ken Smith, Bet Figueras, Gunther Vogt, Stig L Andersson, João Nunes and, last year, Martin Rein-Cano.

This year’s lecture takes place on Wednesday 16 March at 7pm in the Main Lecture Theatre, Edinburgh College of Art. Tickets cost £5 on the door, but are free to matriculated students. More information is on the official flyer.
