Institute enjoys widespread publicity after open letter to Prime Minister on flooding

The letter, written by LI president Sue Illman with support from members of 12 other organisations, called for proper long-term planning to prevent further flood devastation.

Published in the Daily Telegraph on 20 February, the letter also became a front-page news story, and was taken up widely by other media, including the Guardian  the Financial Times, the Western Morning News and the Voice of Russia. It was also the top domestic item on BBC Radio 4 throughout the day. Illman was interviewed on the Today programme on Radio 4 and the story also appeared on the BBC website.
