Conference to examine the local food economy and planning policy
A one-day event at Todmorden Town Hall on 26 June promises to examine the ways in which the planning system can embrace the rapid expansion in community based food growing initiatives and enable these to be built into national and local planning policy.
Delegates attending ‘The Local Food Economy and Planning Policy: Natural Bedfellows?’ will hear from speakers representing major organisations already working towards this objective. They will also have the chance to share their views and own experiences in workshop sessions.
Speakers will include the new Secretary of State for Planning; Pam Warhurst CBE, founder of Incredible Edible Todmorde; and LI policy chair Merrick Denton-Thomas.
The event will also include guided tours of The Incredible Edible Todmorden Green Route, The Incredible Edible Aquagarden and The Incredible Edible Farm.
