An ideas competition has been announced for the main campus of the University of Lisbon, to tie in with its forthcoming Landscape and Life conference in May.

Both the conference and the Lx Campus ideas competition will focus on ‘the relationship between outdoor spaces and what they offer people in terms of wellbeing throughout different phases of life’. Schemes will reimagine aspects of the university campus in ways that would not only enhance the experience of current users (students and faculty staff) but welcome new users, young and old, from the surrounding community. Entrants should consider aspects such as flexibility of use, changes in scale, placemaking, public spaces and community play areas.

The ideas competition is open to multidisciplinary teams from the fields of landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, urban planning or planning, including students and professionals.

The winner will receive €3,000 in prize money. The competition is supported by Fundação Millennium BCP, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, and Reitoria da Universidade de Lisboa. Entrants should register interest by 6 March; the deadline for submission of proposals is 31 March.

The winners will be announced at the Landscape and Life conference, which takes place at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Portugal, 3-5 May.
