Bowles & Wyer enjoyed a wildly successful BALI Awards this year, winning the prestigious Grand Award, and prizes in three other categories at a ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House
The BALI awards, organised by the British Association of Landscape Industries, are the most sought after in the business and recognise designers and landscapers who demonstrate exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill.
Bowles & Wyer took home the Grand Award thanks to their work on a large private garden scheme in Surrey. The judges described the scheme – that included complex levels and terraces, as well as two water features – as “an exercise in perfection”, adding that it was “a great design and a fantastic installation.”
The project was also singled out for praise in the special Design and Build award – the first time in nearly 30 years that BALI have honoured one company with both the Grand Award and Design and Build awards in the same year. They also picked up the construction award in the Domestic Garden Scheme category and Best Use of Lighting for a contemporary garden in North London.
Although Bowles & Wyer had won nine individual prizes in previous years, this was the first time they received the Grand Award. John Wyer, who led the design of the Surrey garden project, said: “It is a real honour to be given this accolade by our peers. It is a tribute to all the people that worked on the project and also to the backing of the client, who really wanted to achieve the best.”
