Goole plan wins plaudits
LDA Design was commissioned by Yorkshire Forward, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Goole Renaissance Partnership to create a ‘renaissance plan’ to stimulate and guide the town’s regeneration.

The scheme, which will refocus and strengthen Goole’s town centre, is the result of a considered and consultative approach to create a long-term strategy that responds to the local community’s social and economic needs.
“We are delighted to be recognised for the value of our planning work in Goole,” said Paul Connelly, director at LDA Design. “Our approach reintroduces the community to the town’s considerable assets and builds their confidence and capacity to guide Goole’s renaissance.”
The RTPI Regional Awards highlight excellence in the planning process, from area-wide masterplans through to small-scale schemes. Richard Crabtree, chair of the RTPI in Yorkshire, commented: “The judging panel recognised the importance of the plan’s vision for the regeneration of Goole and its economy by encouraging new development and investment and generating community confidence. The process also embedded skills and knowledge-transfer to officers and members of the local authority, which is so important in these commissions.”

Dave Custance, assistant director of renaissance and property at Yorkshire Forward, said: “We are pleased to have been able to support the community to produce a visionary plan for the next 25 years that captures the untapped potential of Goole.”
