Help raise money this month for horticulturalists’ benevolent charity Perennial
This September all LI members are encouraged to get active to raise funds for horticultural professionals in need, as part of this year’s HortAid #GetGoing campaign.
Money raised supports Perennial, the gardeners’ royal benevolent society, which offers free advice, support and financial assistance to those working in horticultural professions and their families.
There’s still time to sign up for the Go Nuts for HortAid mud run on 18 September in Dorking, Surrey; a London to Brighton cycle ride on 11 September; join the Go Green team entering the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 9 October; or leap from a plane as a skydiving challenge.
Alternatively you could organise your own fundraising event or consider sponsoring the Three Peakers team who will be cycling from Snowdon to Land’s End.
Following the announcement that HortAid has already raised £80,000 so far this year, Chris Crooker, events manager at Perennial, said: ‘Our supporters have raised a life-changing amount of money already this year that will help us keep Perennial’s UK-wide network of professional caseworkers on the road, providing one-to-one help to those who need it most.
‘But we are ambitious for this charity and the important safety net it provides the horticulture industry and look forward to supporting many more people over the next few weeks and months to raise even more for HortAid.’
