London’s private green spaces open to the public for weekend 18-19 June
More than 200 private and hidden gardens across London will be open to the public for Open Garden Squares Weekend on 18–19 June.
Gardens range from private squares and formal landscapes, to community and education projects and roof gardens. The still-growing list includes: William Morris’ house at Kelmscott; South London Botanical Institute; Kensington’s Roof Gardens; Carshalton House landscape garden; and the Barbican.
This annual event is organised by the London Parks & Gardens Trust. A weekend pass costs £12 in advance (£14 on the day), with under-12s free and a 10 per cent discount for LI student members. The full programme, including one-off tours and other activities, will be available from mid-May.
