Forestry Commission to run course on designing urban woodland
Taking place at Risley Moss Local Nature Reserve in Warrington, the course is based on the UK Forestry Standard and Landscape Guidelines and looks in detail at the landscape guideline principles (shape, scale, landform, enclosure, diversity, unity and spirit of place). Through a series of exercises and workshops that focus on the landscape and visual impact of woodlands and forests, the course uses the development of a design for new woodland to practise the taught content before applying this to the management of an existing woodland.
It is aimed at those involved in designing new woodlands, those producing management plans for existing forests, or those who are consultees through the EWGS application process. The cost of the course is £100. Find out more.
