Five teams have been shortlisted in a competition to design a moveable arts observatory that will occupy four sites in the south of England.
The competition, organised by SPUD (Space, Placemaking and Urban Design) is for a demountable building that will occupy four sites in the south of England. Built for a cost of £50,000, it will act as a beacon and will be used by an artist (not necessarily a visual artist) in each of the four locations.
From a longlist of 20 projects, the jury selected five and the designers of these shortlisted schemes will be invited to interview, at which point a winner will be chosen. In every scheme, the design team worked with an artist.
