European cultural heritage awards get under way
The awards, organised in conjunction with the European Union, celebrate exemplary restorations and initiatives related to Europe’s cultural heritage.
Categories range from the conservation of monuments and buildings and their adaptation to new uses, to urban and rural landscape rehabilitation and education and training initiatives. Up to six Laureates will each win a Grand Prix of €10,000.
This year’s Grand Prix winners included the conservation of the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, Spain; the conservation of a public bath house through vocational training in Berlin, Germany; and a Dutch research project into Vincent van Gogh’s letters.
