Levitt Bernstein has won planning permission for its £44m transformation of Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Arts Centre.

Three Grade II and Grade II* listed theatres (Devonshire Park Theatre, Congress Theatre and the Winter Garden) will be refurbished, while a new public plaza will bring the buildings together, reinforce the parkland setting and strengthen connections to the seafront and town centre.

Outmoded conference facilities will be replaced with a new glazed Welcome Building looking out across the lawns. There will also be major improvements to the international tennis facilities, for which Levitt Bernstein will be working with TrioPlus Sport & Leisure.

Construction is due to start in 2016, with completion expected in 2020.
