A cultural management plan for the Yawuru coastal country in Broome, Western Australia has won the 2012 Australian Landscape Architecture Awards.
Urban Development Landscape Architecture won the 2012 Australian Medal with its project, which set a precedent in how to drive planning, conservation and land management decisions respectfully, which the judges described as ‘visionary’.
An Excellence A ward in the planning category went to John Mongard Landscape Architects for its project ‘Bingara and the Living Classroom’ and there was also an Excellence Award for Landscape Architecture which went to Plan (E) for the Rio Tinto Naturescape at the Kings Park and Botanic Gardens.
