Calling landscape architects for debate on futurescaping water management

Organised by Arena Media Partnerships, in association with the Landscape Institute, the event with be moderated by LI president Sue Illman and chaired by ‘sustainable futurist’ Jim McClelland.

Futurescaping Water Management in Urban Environments: From Flood Control to Dealing with Drought – Policy and Best Practice will examine why water management has failed to rise more rapidly up the political agenda, despite recent flooding events.

It will address whether resources, skills and understanding are in place at a regional and local level ‘to ensure quality roll-out on national policy objectives’, and what industry bodies and the private sector can do differently to accelerate delivery while maintaining best practice.

The event will also look at obstacles to the wider uptake of water-sensitive urban design; soft landscape solutions; and how to make hard landscape part of the solution, rather than the problem, when it comes to storm water control.
