Call to shape wind energy policy
‘Assessing the environmental capacity for onshore wind energy development’ proposes a draft criteria-based guidance that can be used to assess wind energy developments in the landscape, while the ‘Protected landscapes’ policy sets out Natural England’s draft position on furthering the role of nationally protected landscapes, with related advice and guidance.
The knowledge and experience of landscape professionals is crucial to both of these consultations and the LI is keen that the valuable contribution its members can make to shaping national policy is fully realised. Both documents are available to download here.
The deadline for submission of formal responses to the wind energy consultation is Wednesday 2nd September, and members who want to contribute should email Lesley Malone in the Policy and Communications team in the first instance.
Stephen Russell, Policy and Public Affairs Officer, will be co-ordinating responses to the protected landscapes policy. Responses are required by Thursday 1st October and should be emailed to him.
