Penny Brohn Cancer Care hosts nature and wellbeing seminar
Bristol’s Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre is hosting a Landscape, Gardens and Health Network meeting and seminar on Thursday 26 February.
The event, entitled Nature and Wellbeing, will be hosted by Michael Connors, director of services at Penny Brohn Cancer Care. Michael will lead the seminar with a discussion about the work at Penny Brohn focusing on the role of the centre’s five-acre garden in its therapeutic programme.
Michael’s talk will be followed by seven short presentations by network members and guests with the intention of sharing and understanding each other’s work.
These will include a session entitled Embrace and Refuge: a Garden for Hospiscare, by Kathryn Aalto, and one on Kirkwood Hospice, by Jeremy Parker. Colin Porter will speak on The Design of Hospice Gardens, and Angie Butterfield on Maggie’s Cancer Care Gardens.
Other speakers will include Juliet Sargent, Stephen Pettet-Smith and Elizabeth Williamson.
