LI supports the celebrations
This September the Landscape Institute, alongside Bath based practise LT Studio, is supporting Bristol Architecture Centre’s 20th anniversary programme. For 20 years the architecture centre has aimed to inspire, inform and involve people in Bristol to help shape great places. The Landscape Institute will be involved in the upcoming anniversary events, including a retrospective exhibition ‘Place, Time + Architecture’, a symposium, and a family weekend.
A highlight of the anniversary programme will be the symposium, which takes place on Friday 23 September, from 8.30 – 15.30 at M Shed, Bristol. With recollections from those who helped shape the city, a provocative debate about future opportunities on sites such as Castle Park, and an inspiring key note presentation by long-time patron, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, delegates will be asked to consider ‘How has Bristol changed over the past 20 years? What can we hope to achieve in the next 20 years? And what role do architecture and place-making really have to play?’
Paul Lincoln, deputy chief executive of the Landscape Institute, will speak as an expert panellist in the anniversary symposium, discussing the landscape character of Castle Park. Other speakers at the symposium include:
• Peter Murray – Co-founder of Blueprint magazine & chairman of NLA
• Timothy Mowl – Emeritus professor, University of Bristol
• Ivan Harbour – Director of international architectural firm RSH+P
• David Mellor – Founder of Architecture Centre and outgoing chair
• Sasha Lubetkin – The Architecture Centre’s first director
Barra Mac Ruairi – Strategic director of Place, Bristol City Council
