The LI is circulating to branch chairs a new report that paints a picture of the future skills in the built environment.
‘Blueprint for UK Construction Skills 2010 to 2014’ contains a set of projections, compiled by Construction Skills, for the size and employment needs of the entire UK, which are then broken down into detail for each devolved country and English region.
Although the figures do not say anything specific about landscape architects, they contain some useful forecasts about general expectations for which kinds of building project will increase or decease over the next five years. They also show the future numbers of architects and surveyors that will be needed, which can serve as a broadly helpful surrogate.
