Ground Control steps up a gear for major leisure project

Birminghams £150m Resorts World opens

Birminghams' multi-million pound Resorts World integrated leisure and entertainment complex opened last week, with landscape by Ground Control.

The lakeside scheme is one of the fast-growing company's largest design-and-build developments to date, costing £1m. It includes a bespoke terrace, structural concrete works, exposed aggregate paving, step construction and cladding, counter-terrorist security measures, integrated strip lighting and uplighters. Planting ranges from coir marginal planting to semi-mature tree planting, complemented by hardwood timber benches and planters, bat and bird boxes, earthworks and soft landscaping.

Warren Heaton of Ground Control said, 'The project has provided many challenges, but with the team’s mixture of skills and expertise, we have been able to deliver a scheme which successfully responded to the project’s brief and the client’s high expectations.'

Resorts World Birmingham houses a shopping mall, spa hotel, cinema, casino, conference facilities, bars and restaurants inside a 12-storey building beside the city's National Exhibition Centre (NEC).
