The programme of meetings will run until Christmas
Members of the Landscape Institute have the opportunity to make their views know about the future of the profession.
Sessions taking place within each branch will look at proposals for changing some of the LI’s structures, as well as hearing about the LI’s new publications and resources.
The proposed changes set out in hte ‘Future Direction’ consultation paper include:
• Giving increased and appropriate voting rights to all members
• Changing the composition of the Board to reflect the diversity of the membership
• Introducing an additional route to Chartership
• Changes to some non-professional categories of membership
You can find out about your local meeting on the events section of the LI website.
The LI wants to gather the views of as many members as possible. As well as the branch meetings, there is a forum to debate the proposals on Talking Landscape. The consultation questionnaire is online here.
Last year the LI Policy Committee initiated ‘The Conversation’, to find out how members felt the profession should position itself for the future. The project welcomed ‘ambitious and radical ideas for the long term future of the profession’. The current proposals reflect some of that thinking, and aim to make the LI more democratic and accountable to its members.
