The historic market place at Barrow-Upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire is to be given a new lease of life.

2B Landscape Consultancy's concept design for Barrow-Upon-Humber

2B Landscape Consultancy has been selected by the Better Barrow committee to begin a process of engaging with local residents, and producing plans for the town’s market place.

Competition entries were whittled down from 10 design teams to a shortlist of three, each of which presented its ideas to the Better Barrow group. 2B was chosen to take the project forward because of its enthusiasm for the project and commitment to community engagement.

The aim of the project will be to create an engaging, fun, living space – to be the heart of Barrow. It will celebrate Barrow’s history, in particular the connection to clock-maker John Harrison, who famously solved the longitude problem.

The design for the market place will be developed with the Better Barrow group and local residents. The project will be seeking Heritage Lottery and other funding, and is supported by North Lincolnshire Council.
