Transforming Spaces is a course by Learning through Landscapes (LtL) for design professionals working with schools. At the end of the course, participants can take an assessment to become part of LtL’s network of accredited design professionals, who help LtL to deliver high-quality projects in schools both in the UK and overseas.
This is not a course about how to design, it is about understanding the needs of pupils, teachers and the wider school community. The course covers topics including the importance of nature for children’s health, risk in play and designing for outdoor learning.
Attendees must have at least two years’ experience of working in schools and must also have a professional design qualification. Participants will attend five two-hour workshops, with short tasks between each, and in session five they will share presentations from a design task set at the end of session four. This enables participants to learn from each other, as well as from examples around the world.
Attendance at all five sessions is required to earn the accreditation but, if attending the first session is not possible, there will be an option to watch this session before joining the course at week two. This is the only session that will able to be viewed in this way.
