Taking stock of progress against our eight member pledges, CEO Robert Hughes looks ahead to the next six months of work.
In January 2023, the Landscape Institute (LI) asked its members to share their feedback to help us shape the future of the LI.
Putting members at the heart of decision-making is a core tenet of our New Ways of Working programme, which fosters a culture of collaboration between all the people that shape our organisation – including members, volunteers, the Board, and staff. Member surveys, such as the one we ran last year, offer a vital opportunity for us to listen and move forward together.
In response to the feedback, the LI committed to eight pledges which were aligned with our strategic priorities for the 2024–25 Business Plan.

We have listened to our members and acted, with a strong focus on areas that are important to our members and volunteers. These eight pledges have become a golden thread throughout the Business Plan, enabling us to achieve our objectives, and become a forward-thinking and inclusive organisation.
You can see the achievements of the pledges to date in the presentation below.
We’re proud of the achievements we’ve made so far, and in the next six months, we will be working with members to develop into a forward-thinking and inclusive organisation. Our work will not be done in isolation, but shaped through further consultation and engagement, with members at the core. We look forward to continuing this important work together. Together, we can make a difference.
