Last year, Gustafson Porter + Bowman were a finalist for the Landscape Institute, Dame Sylvia Crowe International Award. In this blog, we explore their involvement with the incredible milestone project they had been recognised for.
Gustafson Porter + Bowman completed the first phase of ‘OnE’ with their competition winning design for the landscape around the Eiffel Tower in March this year. The landscape around the Fountain of Varsovie has been transformed with new planting, trees, benches and pavements that reinforce the 2km long axis between Trocadero and the Military School. Immediately after completion, the Paris 2024 Olympic Committee took over the site and began the preparations for the main stage at the Trocadero Gardens which was featured in the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Once the Para-Olympics are over, construction of the following phase will resume which include Trocadero, Place Varsovie and Place Branly on either side of the Iena bridge and the Quai Branly in front of the tower and extending to the Bir Hakeim metro station.
This next phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and we look forward to seeing this breathtaking project in its complete form.
