Committees
The Institute is advised by three Standing Committees which influence policy and help develop thinking in the key areas of its work, with subcommittees and working groups advising on more specialised issues.
Education and Membership Committee
The Education and Membership Committee develops policy and provides expertise and advice on all issues relating to the education and continuing professional development (CPD) of landscape architects and on the standards of entry for the LI's membership grades, in support of the Institute's objectives. Responsibilities include careers and progression, the accreditation and review of higher education programmes, mechanics of qualifying for chartership, and promoting a culture of lifelong learning in the profession to ensure high standards of practice.

Policy Committee
The Landscape Institute’s Policy Committee consists of 13 Landscape Institute members and is directly supported by the Director of Policy and Communications and the Policy and Public Affairs Officer (England). The main responsibilities of the Policy Committee are leading on the direction and content of the LI's position statements, acting as a first point of contact for Secretariat staff in the development of LI responses to public policy consultations, and representing the Institute at external events such as conferences, workshops and seminars.

Technical Committee
The Technical Committee provides technical guidance and expertise on landscape matters to Council, and in support of the LI’s objectives generally. The Committee's work includes responding to consultation documents, working with government bodies and other agencies to influence the technical content of new legislation and guidance, developing the membership's technical knowledge and practice, and advising on contract documentation.
