Housing, Land Use and Community - Annual Conference 9 and 10 October

30th September 2008

The government has made a commitment to building three million new homes by 2020; the challenge of climate change and the demands on land for the provision of food, energy supply, leisure and housing are all at the top of the public agenda.

The Landscape Institute’s Annual Conference addresses the key issues facing landscape architects, planners, architects and policy makers.

Despite the credit crunch, can we afford not to provide good quality landscape in housing developments?
How do we measure the impact of good landscape architecture on health as well as on property and rental values?
How do we resolve conflicts over land use: playgrounds or car parks; allotments or parks; food or bio-fuels; green belt or housing?
How does good public space and landscape help in the fight against anti-social behaviour and crime?
How can investment in landscape help deliver more sustainable communities?
