Call for new members for the LI’s Education and Membership Committee
22nd January 2008
The LI is calling for members to come forward and play their part in shaping the future of the profession by signing up to one of its education and membership committees or working groups.
The call follows the recommendations of 2007’s review of membership, which were supported by Council in September and were the subject of a major consultation with the membership in the autumn.
“The LI has set itself an ambitious agenda – we are now looking for members to help us to push the work forward and bring fresh ideas” said Nick Harrison FLI, chair of the LI’s Education and Membership Committee. “We are in particular keen to hear from members who have perhaps not been involved in LI’s committees before but who have an interest in education for the profession and want to get more involved.“
Work planned for 2008 includes the further development of the LI’s membership structures and a new working group which will be looking at the LI’s approach to CPD and increasing the learning opportunities available to members.
“We will also be looking at further development and support for the Pathway to Chartership and our procedures for assessment of applications for membership, as well as course accreditation and ways of supporting the take up of landscape architecture as a career alongside the launch of the I want to be a landscape architect website in the spring.”
All expressions of interest are welcome says Harrison “but we would be especially keen to hear from members with a professional interest in urban design, landscape science or landscape management to help us with our work in these areas."
For more information or to express an interest, please call Sue Beard, Director of Education and Membership, or send in a CV and brief covering letter to Sue at suzanneb@landscapeinstitute.org
