GLVIA SURVEY CONSULTATION
26th November 2007
The second edition of the Guidelines for Visual Impact Assessment (GLVIA) was published in 2002 by the Landscape Institute and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Since then the ‘blue book’ guidance has been applied widely in assessment of the potential effects of developments. The application of methodology and its interpretation has been debated at public enquiry. There is therefore a growing body of experience and the LI wishes to draw on this to discover:
· How the GLVIA is being applied and by whom
· Where it needs to be updated to reflect current and emerging good practice
· How the LI can support its membership to maintain high professional standards in carrying out Landscape Visual Impact Assessments
The aim is to produce a third edition of the guidance in 2008/09. Until such a time the Institute recommends that the good practice outlined in the second edition remains relevant to GLVIA. The process is to update and develop the guidance retaining the best of what it contains and adding to our increased knowledge and experience gained in recent years.
The purpose of the attached questionnaire is to commence the consultation process and direct the agenda of the GLVIA working group to meet the needs of the LI members in this respect, to inform the continued development of methodology and provide CPD. The survey will be online until 31 December 2007. Please continue to questionnaire via the link below. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
Many thanks for your help with this project.
